Built 2008, 4 bedroom, 2 bathroom, 2500 square feet

Carefully tucked into a wooded lot in Madison’s Arboretum neighborhood, this 2,500 sf home was designed for a family of four to take full advantage of the site’s unique opportunities. The home strikes a balance of raw materials with refined details in a way that allows for modern design to be warm and timeless. Concrete floors and steel siding are complemented by the ample use of douglas fir beams and trim. Every inch of the home is designed for living, creating an environment that feels spacious, while still maintaining a small footprint. Natural lighting and views are paramount to the design. Constructed using SIP panels for high energy performance and radiant heated floors, the home maintains warmth in the coldest of Madison days. Strong efforts were made to maximize the use of recyclable materials including steel siding and roofing and reclaimed timber beams. The landscaping is minimal using no-mow grass and native plantin gs to blend the yard into the natural environment. There is even a designer chicken coop in the back!
